Designing my own front cover using other photos/images
After the previous task we all then got given the task of designing our own layout of a front cover, but using already existing photos/images. This was good because it gave us all a chance to use our research to think about how we should layout the page. It also gave us a chance to think about what colours we should be use and what looks good etc. I used the program photoshop again on this task and although it wasn't as time consuming as the previous task because there were no photos to take, it did take time thinking about what should go where on the page etc. Overall, I liked the layout I chose and I liked how certain things stood out to grab the reader's attention, but there were also aspects of it that I was not satisfied with. For example, the main picture I chose off the internet to include in it was pixelated slightly. I wanted a close up of it which I could not do because of this because it pixelated it even more.
I handed it round my class colleagues to see what they thought about it, and got some negative and positive feedback. You can see my labelled copy of my front cover task to the right.
Some of my colleagues commented on the pixelated image, and because of this I'm going to take care when I'm doing my final piece to make sure that my images are all in focus and are not pixelated or blurred. This reduces the professional look of the magazine.
The good layout was commented on but it was also said that perhaps it was too busy? I'm going to take this into consideration for my final piece and think about not cramming too much in on just one page, but instead doing enough to lure the reader in...
