ANALYSIS OF FRONT COVER 3...
-The brand identity is used throughout the front cover with all the headlines and cover lines, linking back to the logo colours of red and white.
-The artist is on a blank background as well which insinuates that maybe he is isolating himself from his band and hasn’t got a place in the music industry yet. This could prompt the idea of a story line to the reader which excites them more.
-The male artist in the frame is holding a guitar which is iconic to the rock genre so it is clear what the main genre will be in the magazine. His actions of swinging the guitar into the magazine’s logo shows his rebellious nature which may attract the target audience as it gives the cover and exciting atmosphere. The black and red costume that the artist is wearing also connotates danger and a spontaneous nature which may again intrigue the reader.
-The lighting in the camera shot is dramatic and emphasises the rebellious shot of the artist and perhaps his personality. The shadow which is created by this lighting also contributes towards this effect.
-There are no other images on the page either apart from a small one showing the beatles, which focuses nearly all of the reader’s attention on the male artist in the middle of the page. This also shows that his feature in the magazine will be of the biggest interest to the reader.
-The text ‘ ant and dec’ is highlighted in red on the right side of the page underneath all of the music artist’s names which are in black, singling them out to the reader as something different which they should pay attention to. The use of the colour red here also emphasises this as it connotates urgency.
